Preparations for ASEAN Tourism Forum 2022 90% Complete

SIHANOUKVILLE: The Ministry of Tourism has recently announced that the Minister of Tourism, Thong Khon, and the Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, Kouch Chamroeun, chaired a meeting to review the remaining work and inspect the location for the 40th ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF 2022) in Sihanoukville to prepare to receive international delegates and senior officials.

The meeting and inspection of the location for the ATF was held at Sokha Beach Hotel in Sihanoukville, with the participation of officials of the Ministry of Tourism, law enforcements and relevant professional working groups, as well as the working group of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Administration.

The meeting confirmed that the preparation work for ATF 2022 is around 90% complete, which includes the preparation of venues for tourism exhibitions, opening ceremonies, closing ceremonies and other related programs that have been identified and organized gradually in accordance with safety rules.

In addition, all ASEAN Tourism Ministers and senior officials from the 10 ASEAN Member States have confirmed they will be attending and participating in ATF 2022 as well as other related meetings, including international delegations. A total of 187 vendors, 107 buyers from 35 countries, including 7 from Cambodia, have also confirmed participation in the forum’s travel trade fair, TRAVEX.

Minister Thong Khon said that with the strong support of all ASEAN member countries, the private sector in Cambodia received more registrations and confirmations than expected during the Covid-19 crisis. He added that he has advised and recommended the relevant working groups to cooperate with the relevant authorities of Sihanoukville to ensure the safe organization of meetings and activities of this international event in accordance with the standard procedures (SOP) of the Ministry of Health and the Standard Procedures for Tourism Destinations of the Sihanoukville Provincial Administration.

Cambodia will be hosting ATF 2022 from 16-22 January 2022 in Sihanoukville, Preah Sihanouk Province.
